Student of the Month

Jennifer Reasor is the Bloom High School March Student of the Month for the Rotary Club of Chicago Heights and Park Forest. Jennifer is a senior at Bloom, and is planning on attending Prairie State College after High School to earn her Associate Degree and then attend Governor’s State University with the hopes of studying Astronomy or Journalism. She credits her mom for making her a better person, and the pandemic has taught her that family and friends are EVERYTHING!

She was nominated by Lieutenant Stacy Henderson-Shaw: “She is an Honor Roll Student with Perfect Attendance.  She works well independently and in groups.  She is a regular attendee of Asynchronous Wednesday sessions and targeted re-engagement – not as a student in need of additional study time BUT as support for the students that do.  A ‘people person’ she gets along well with others and is often seen as the ‘Go To’ person or the leader amongst her peer group.  Jennifer is a gem.

Cadet Reasor spearheaded the NJROTC Unit’s Winter Wear Clothing Drive for the local community and rallied others in the Unit to fully support the Ladies In Progress Socks Drive.  As a result, we collected 204 pairs of socks to benefit the Homewood family Shelter, and collected clothing to aid the residents displaced by the recent apartment fire in Richton Park.  She also took charge of our Disaster Relief Outreach Initiative for residents of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana affected by recent storms.   The Unit donated critical need items from the ‘Wish List’ of service organizations in those areas; we received support from Cadets and their Parents / Guardians.

She is active on the Academic and Orienteering Teams – both of which earned several awards for their performance.  Even during the Pandemic, she continues to represent both Bloom and the community with pride.  She is committed to excellence in education and she is dedicated to serving others.  Her warm, giving spirit is ‘a breath of fresh air’ and her peers hold her in high regard.  It is with great pride that I recommended Jennifer Reasor for selection as the March 2021 ‘Chicago Heights Rotary Club Student of the Month.”

Some of her other teachers said: “Jennifer always brightens my day.  She greets me everyday and is such a respectful and positive student.  She works hard in class and always strives to do better!  She’s like this with other students in class as well. She’s a wonderful spirit and I know she will go far and help others in the future!”
“Jenny Reasor is one of the nicest, well mannered, and hard working kids I have this year.”
“Jennifer is a bright light in my classroom.  She greets me every day and other students as well.  Students respond well and that means people know she cares for others.  Jennifer is a diligent worker and wants to do the work well and has pride in her work ethic.   She participates and offers her analysis of the material we consider.  Jennifer is one of those students who teachers would teach for free or even pay her to come back; she creates a positive atmosphere and pushes the class in the right direction.”

Please congratulate this wonderful young woman on her recognition.
